The NFLW was first endorsed by President Eisenhower in 1957 after Sister Eloise Therese, the National President of Alpha Mu Gamma from 1956 to 1960, identified the need to raise awareness of the importance of foreign language learning. Since then, NFLW has been endorsed by each President of the United States.
ASK will recognize NFLW within the frame of our first Global Awareness Month in March 2012. All students enrolled in Spanish and French classes will be working on projects to promote the study of a foreign language, or highlight the benefits of learning additional languages. These projects will be displayed from March 11 to 15, and during the Global Awareness Fair (March 25-28).
When you have a chance, take the quiz “Are you Smarter than a Language Teacher.” Let me know how you do.
